Killam Fellowships Program

The Killam Fellowships Program for awards to be taken up in the academic year 2026-2027 is now open!

The program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students from universities in Canada and the United States to spend either a semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in the other country.

You can participate in the program in one of two ways:

Direct Exchange Student (Direct exchange competition)

You must be a student at one of our partner universities. Students register at their home university, pay their home university fees, and attend the host university as an exchange visitor.

Deadline to apply: Check your university鈥檚 internal deadline!

Self-placed Visiting Student (Open competition)

If you are a student at a university that is not a Killam partner, you can apply for and register at the host university and pay the host tuition fees.

Fulbright/Killam Deadline to apply: January 31, 2026.

Eligibility requirements:

• Canadian citizenship
• Full-time registered undergraduate student at a Canadian university
• English proficiency
• Competitive GPA

Killam Fellows receive:

• US $6,000 for one semester or US $12,000 for one academic year
• Health insurance
• Up to $800 for in-country travel
• Fall Orientation in Ottawa, ON
• Spring Seminar in Washington, D.C.
