Graduate Laboratory Instructor (Up to 5 Positions) - Department of Biology - Faculty of Science
$27.81 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay, as per PSAC Local 86000
January 12 – April 25, 2026
The Department of Biology at the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® invites applications from individuals who are interested in instructing laboratories in the following Biology courses in the Winter 2026 semester. All qualified candidates are welcome to apply; however, priority will be given to students enrolled in a ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® Graduate program.
Botany (Bio 2020), Microbiology (Bio 2060), Animal Behaviour (Bio 3350), Biodiversity and Conservation Bio (Bio 4540)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructing and leading labs and/or tutorials, and marking exams and assignments
- Proctoring in-lab quizzes and tests
- Aiding with lab set up and tear down as required
- Other duties as assigned by the course instructor or laboratory coordinator
The successful applicants will be required to participate on a weekly basis for their scheduled laboratory duties for the duration of the Winter semester.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® graduate student in good standing or;
- Have completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology or a similar program that required a course with a laboratory component that is equivalent to the lab they want to instruct
- Have good communication skills
- Be WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) trained or be willing to take the training

This position is covered by a Collective Agreement between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®. Priority will be given to ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® students.
