Hasna Mady and Mary Truong, this year's Welcome Week Coordinators, say that what they are most excited about for Welcome Week is seeing all the planning, ideas, and hard work that have gone into this year finally come to life. More than anything, they are excited to be part of the group that helps our incoming students feel welcomed, comfortable, and genuinely excited to begin their journey at ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®.
"Starting university is such a big transition, and we know that the first few days can shape how students feel about their new home," said Mady and Truong. "We’re looking forward to creating opportunities for students to meet new people, build friendships, explore campus, try new things, and feel like they truly belong here. Whether it’s through team activities, campus events, traditions, or even the small moments of connection between leaders and students, we want Welcome Week to be something they remember for years to come.
"Most importantly, we’re excited to welcome a new group of Panthers to our community and, hopefully, help them feel proud to be part of ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®. We can’t wait to see our leaders bring their energy and enthusiasm to the week, watch students find their people, and experience those moments where everything starts to feel a little more like home. We’re so excited to share this experience with our incoming class and help set the tone for the next few years they’ll spend with us at ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®!"
Creating a warm, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students is a campus-wide effort! During the first week of classes, many faculty and staff will be at information tables in high-traffic areas, wearing "Ask Me" t-shirts or buttons, signalling to students that they are a safe, welcoming resource to ask questions about the University! Even if faculty and staff haven't signed up officially, they are encouraged to join the "Ask Me" movement to help foster a campus culture where everyone feels supported from day one.
