Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C) Approvals
If you plan to use animals in your research, you will need to involve ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®ÌýBoulder’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C). The primary function of the IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C is to ensure ¾«Í¯ÓûÅ® Boulder's compliance with all state and federal regulations surrounding the humane care and use of animals in research and teaching.
Sponsors do not normally require IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C approval at time of proposal submission, but many require prior approval to funding. Therefore, *Principal Investigators (PIs) should consult with IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C and request approvals in a timely manner. Keep in mind that NIH requires IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C approval at the just in time (JIT) stage, and, if awarded, a project SpeedType will not be setup until approval has been obtained.
If you are unsure whether or not your project requires IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C review, visit the IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®CÌýwebsite. If you are a new researcher or need more guidance on animal research, see IA¾«Í¯ÓûÅ®C’s Getting Started page.
